If God is for us, it doesn’t matter who is against us.
2 Kings 6:8-23 tells us that the King of Aram was at war with Israel. Now every time he was going to attack Israel God warned Elisha, the prophet, who, in turn, warned the king of Israel so he was prepared.
This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, "Will you not tell me which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?" He thought there must be a spy in his midst, but there wasn’t.
So he found out where Elisha was and sent horses and chariots and an army to surrounded the city. When Elisha’s servant got up and went out early the next morning, and saw an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city, he cried "Oh, my lord, what shall we do?"
Elisha, a man of great faith, said:
“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
And then Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. Can you just imagine what a sight that must have been?
As the enemy army started to advance Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike these people with blindness." So God struck them blind. At this point Elisha was able to lead the enemy away from Israel and Israel was saved!
After that Aram stopped attacking Israel. You may be wondering what this has to do with me and you. Well let me tell you a few things. First, this account reminds us that God is always on the side of those who do His will. He will always defend us and take care of us.
Secondly, this reminds us that nothing, not even fiery chariots is too hard for God! We may not be able to figure out a solution to our problems but God knows what we need when we need it. He will provide a way when there seems to be no way.
So hang on. Hold tight to His promises and wait for Him to defend you. You may not be able to see it, but they’re there. He has given His angels “charge over you”. He will care for you.
